The 2008 Southern Living Magazine Reader’s Choice Awards are out.
Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg placed #5 for Best Family Vacation and the two cities placed #1 on the Best Weekend Getaway.
Lila Wilson, of the Pigeon Forge Department of Tourism said that “We were absolutely thrilled and honored,” Wilson said. “The entire city of Pigeon Forge is dedicated to providing the most quality, rewarding vacation experience for everyone and to receive that recognition certainly tells us that we’re meeting that need and that goal.”
The Smoky Mountain area offers so many wonderful activities for vacationers, including shopping, music theaters, magic shows, Dollywood, and Ripleys Aquarium of the Smokies. When you combine all this with the scenic beauty and wonders of the national park, it’s easy to see why an estimated 11 million people visit the Smoky Mountains each year.
