Since we’re getting into the full swing of Summer now, everyone seems to be wanting to go to Smokies. Whether to take in the sites, relax, or go through the many attractions the area has to offer, everyone has there own reasons. If you’re in town this weekend, I hope you’re beating off the heat and having a blast! For me, it’s a great time to hit the trials and do a little hiking. Ace Gap, while a litle out of the way is a good simple trail to hike on and great for a small groups, like the one I went with. Be careful on the drive and enjoy the sites!

If nature is not your thing, The Belz Outlets in Pigeon Forge will be having a massive sidewalk sale from Thursday, July 22 to Sunday, July 25. No idea what the sale will contain, but if you’re in the shopping mood, it would be wise of you to check it out!

George Jones will be performing at the Country Tonite Theater on July 23 and July 24! I don’t really know what else I have to say to convince you that it’s worth it seeing this country legend in action, but there you go. Just know that  he’s coming and if you’re in town, there’s definitely a night’s worth of entertainment right there for your pleasure. It’s amazing that he is still going as strong as he is, which is a real credit to his performanceship.

You can find out more information and ticket sales on First Class Productions.

It’s kind of amazing some of the things I don’t know go on in this town, even after living here for so long. For example, the Pigeon Forge Midnight 8k. It’s a midnight track race for runners that lines up in the middle of downtown Pigeon Forge and run through the neon sea that the place is at night. I’m not much of a runner, but that sounds pretty good and different from the average track race! The race takes place on the 31st and runners can still apply, so if you’re interested, give it a shot. If not, check it out for something different to do in town!

Gatlinburg is well known for having festivals throughout the year dealing with cratfs of one kind or another and the Craftsmen Fair is no different! Voted one of the South’s most popular events, the Craftsmen Fair enters its 35th year for a week beginning on July 16 and ending July 24.  Cratfspeople from all over the south will be in attendance showing off their handy work, along with several country and bluegrass shows. If you’re interested in the art of handmade crafts and want a different way of spending your vacation, this will be well worth checking out. As the website says, it will be a “show that should not be missed!”

Admission into the fair is $6. You can find more information over at The Craftsmen’s Fair website.
