Officials at Great Smoky Mountains National Park have announced that the Eastern Federal Lands Highway Division has awarded a contract to Bell & Associates Highway Construction of Brentwood, TN to design and construct the next section of the uncompleted Foothills Parkway.

Great Smoky Mountains National Park officials have announced the release of the Development Concept Plan/Environmental Assessment on the proposed improvements to Great Smoky Mountains Institute at Tremont (Tremont). Park managers are inviting written or electronic public comments on the Park’s proposed actions during a 30-day review process. Comments are due by April 15, 2010.

Managers at Great Smoky Mountains National Park are preparing to close the Cades Cove Loop Road starting Monday, March 1, for a complete reconstruction of the road. They expect to re-open the 11-mile Loop not later than May 21.
