So, to many of us, the idea of a perfect weekend may have something to do with big machines and food. How about classic automobiles and barbecue? In Pigeon Forge, we’ll be celebrating both this weekend!

The Chevy Classic, an annual Car Show here in the land of Forge, will be happening all this weekend from Friday to Sunday at the Inn at Christmas Place. Seems like many of the car shows have reconvened at this location and for good reason! There’s ample room and parking for all . Be sure to check it out!

Once you have your fill of eye candy, feed your mouth and ears with BBQ and Bluegrass (Respectively. Please don’t try it the other way around!) The Bloomin’ BBQ and Bluegrass event will be taking place Saturday and Sunday for the low, low price of free. Really. That’s good music and good food waiting for your right there! It’s a large event that’s going to have many bands playing all weekedn, as well as competition and booths and will be well worth checking out. Heck, say the words “free BBQ” and I’ll be anywhere! This takes place near the old court house in Sevierville on your way into town, so it’ll be really hard to miss. Just to make sure though, check out http://www.bloominbbq.com for more info.

So, I think I planned out your weekend for you. I know I planned mine. See you there!

Bloomin’ BBQ and Bluegrass - The largest event in Sevierville! Tennessee State Championship Barbeque Cook-Off, FREE bluegrass concerts from rising stars and bluegrass legends, kids games, great food and authentic mountain crafts. Entering it 26th year, the Dolly Parade will literally take over downtown Pigeon Forge on May 6th! All down the parkway there will be festivities, sales and people celebrating an icon of our area and having an all around good time. Starting at 6:00 PM to who knows when, you can expect everything from entertainers to marching bands to the lead lady herself. All you need to do is show up! I guarantee you it’ll be hard to miss and easy to find a spot. Highly recommended! We’ll do another reminder later on in the week to ensure you have your plans all sorted out.

Also, in other recent news, the Hatfield and McCoy Dinner Show has been open and is the new thing in town to check out! While we haven’t been to it yet, we’ll let you know how it is as soon as we can!

April has come with sun, then showers and hopefully more sun too! The middle of the month will be a great time to visit the Smokies, with all sorts of things going on as the town hits full swing for spring! Here’s a little bit of what you can expect:

  • The Yellow Mustang Show, featuring exactly what you would expect, will be taking place from the 14th to the 16th at the Inn at Christmas Place! Not since the sun has there been so much yellow in one location! Music and general gatherings are expected to be going on the entire weekend, so it’s well worth a look! For more information, call 1-888-465-9644
  • Music of the Mountains will be playing in Townsend on the 15th, with a variety of Celtic Melodies and good times. You can call the Smoky Mountain Heritage Center at 865-448-0044 for additional information on this demonstration!
  • Also on the 15th-16th weekend is the ironclad Mountain Man March, starting in Gatlinburg at 7 AM and going through everything in the country from highways and rural roads to rugged terrain and mountain slopes. It’s the third time they will make the 26.2 Mile march and is done to honor those who have served our country. Their website is down at the moment, but you can call 865-974-885 to learn more.

And that’s not even including Easter weekend! We’ll make another post or two for just that soon!
