June is almost here and we’re well on our way of feeling the heatwave. Fortunately, we have some events to help cool us down:

  • At the Sevierville Events Center from June 2 – 4 is the Parkest Greatest Knife show, promising a wide selection of knives to the connoisseur of pointy objects. Visit their website for more details on what they may have, what dealers are coming and more!
  • The Elkmont Synchronous Fireflies will be easily accessed at Elkmont from June 4 – June 12! One of the few places in the world where fireflies gather in a large force, this is a must-see event! We’ll bring about more info soon, but in the meantime, you can check out the official Elkmont Campground information for your needs.
  • The Incredible Christmas Place celebrated 25 years in the Smokies on June 15! There will be plenty of bargains and celebrations to go along with these and there are even special anniversary packages for those wanting to stay at the Christmas Inn across the street. Check it out!

Have you ever wanted to explore an ancient tomb Indiana Jones style? Well, now you can without the passport!

Appearing in Walden’s Landing next to the Forge 5 Cinema, Tomb is a interactive puzzle exhibit where you get to make your way through . It was originally located in Boston with great success there and brought to us with the help of Ned Vickers. Now we in the South get to try it out! Floors collapsing, riddles, strength tests and even more, your party has to make their way through the maze to find the Pharaoh’s tomb. It’s a very different sort of attraction in a street covered with putt putt courses and go-kart tracks, which definitely piques my interest in this.

The attraction opens up next Thursday to the public with a $12.99 admission. The Mountain Press has a whole article on it. Sevier County residents get a first glimpse at it soon, so I may swing by and see what the fuss is all about! Watch out for snakes!

Entering it 26th year, the Dolly Parade will literally take over downtown Pigeon Forge on May 6th! All down the parkway there will be festivities, sales and people celebrating an icon of our area and having an all around good time. Starting at 6:00 PM to who knows when, you can expect everything from entertainers to marching bands to the lead lady herself. All you need to do is show up! I guarantee you it’ll be hard to miss and easy to find a spot. Highly recommended! We’ll do another reminder later on in the week to ensure you have your plans all sorted out.

Also, in other recent news, the Hatfield and McCoy Dinner Show has been open and is the new thing in town to check out! While we haven’t been to it yet, we’ll let you know how it is as soon as we can!
